Author Guidelines

Pamiętnik Literacki welcomes original scholarly contributions that advance research and critical discussion in the field of literary studies and related areas of the humanities. Authors are invited to submit research articles, critical studies, review articles, and other scholarly contributions that are relevant to the journal’s academic scope. Manuscripts should present clear research questions, demonstrate sound methodology, engage critically with relevant literature, and make a meaningful contribution to existing scholarship. Submissions should be original, academically rigorous, and prepared specifically for consideration by the journal.

Manuscripts should be written in clear, precise, and consistent academic language. Authors should ensure that the title accurately reflects the content of the manuscript and provide an informative abstract together with appropriate keywords where required. The main text should be logically organised, with clearly identifiable sections where appropriate, and should include an introduction, discussion or analysis, and conclusions consistent with the nature of the research. Authors should provide complete bibliographic information for all sources cited and follow a consistent citation and referencing style. Quotations, paraphrased material, archival sources, and other borrowed material must be properly acknowledged.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts are factually accurate, linguistically polished, and free from avoidable errors. Tables, figures, illustrations, and other supplementary materials should be appropriately numbered, titled, and referenced in the manuscript, with necessary source information provided. Authors should ensure that any material requiring permission for reproduction has been appropriately cleared before submission. Where research involves personal data, interviews, or other forms of human participation, authors should follow applicable ethical standards and clearly indicate relevant ethical considerations where appropriate.

Manuscripts should be submitted in an editable electronic format through the journal’s designated submission process. The submission should contain the complete manuscript and all required accompanying information. Authors should provide accurate details concerning authorship, institutional affiliation, and contact information. All individuals who have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the manuscript should be appropriately identified as authors, while individuals who have provided limited assistance may be acknowledged where appropriate. Changes to authorship after submission should be communicated to and approved by all relevant authors and the journal.

Authors must submit only original work that is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal or publication venue. Manuscripts should not contain plagiarism, fabricated or falsified information, inappropriate manipulation of sources, or substantial unattributed reproduction of previously published material. Authors are expected to disclose any significant overlap with their previous publications and to cite their earlier work appropriately. The journal may use appropriate procedures and screening methods to assess originality and academic integrity.

The journal follows a scholarly peer-review process. Submitted manuscripts may first undergo an editorial assessment to determine whether they meet the journal’s scope, scholarly standards, and basic submission requirements. Manuscripts considered suitable may then be evaluated by independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts in response to editorial or reviewer comments. Acceptance is based on the academic quality, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, and overall contribution of the manuscript.

Authors should disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could reasonably influence the research or its interpretation. Sources of financial or institutional support relevant to the research should be acknowledged where applicable. Authors are also expected to maintain transparency concerning research methods, data, sources, and analytical procedures to the extent appropriate for the discipline.

The journal expects authors to observe responsible practices concerning the use of artificial intelligence and other digital tools. Where such tools have been used substantially in preparing, analysing, translating, or otherwise developing the manuscript, their use should be disclosed in accordance with the journal’s requirements. Artificial intelligence tools should not be presented as authors, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scholarly reliability of all submitted material.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the information provided to the journal is accurate and that the submission complies with the journal’s ethical and editorial requirements. Authors should carefully review the manuscript before submission and respond promptly and professionally to editorial queries and revision requests. The editorial team reserves the right to return manuscripts that do not comply with the journal’s scope, academic standards, formatting requirements, or ethical expectations.
